Reaction: SeMet is converted to AdoSeMet by MAT

- in pathway: Metabolism of ingested SeMet, Sec, MeSec into H2Se
Methionine adenosyltransferases (MAT multimers) consisting of a S-adenosylmethionine synthase isoform type-1 (MAT1A) homodimer and a MAT1A: S-adenosylmethionine synthase isoform type-2 (MAT2A) heterodimer are responsible for the conversion of selenomethionine (SeMet) and ATP into Se-adenosylselenomethionine (AdoSeMet), orthophosphate (Pi), and diphosphate (PPi) (Kajander et al. 1990).
