Reaction: SeHCys and Ser are dehydrated into SeCysta by CBS

- in pathway: Metabolism of ingested SeMet, Sec, MeSec into H2Se
Cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS) is involved in the dehydration of selenohomocysteine (SeHCys) and serine that produces selenocystathionine (SeCysta). This reaction is inferred from the event in rat involving the protein cystathionine beta-synthase (Cbs) (Esaki et al. 1981).
Reaction - small molecule participants:
H2O [cytosol]
SeCysta [cytosol]
SeHCys [cytosol]
