Reaction: HMIT co-transports myo-inositol with a proton

- in pathway: Inositol transporters
SLC2A13 encodes a H+/myo-inositol co-transporter, HMIT (Uldry M et al, 2001) which is abundantly expressed in the brain. A proton is co-transported with myo-inositol uptake into cells. No glucose transport function has been detected to date.
