Reaction: ALG11 transfers the fourth and fifth Man to the N-glycan precursor

- in pathway: Biosynthesis of the N-glycan precursor (dolichol lipid-linked oligosaccharide, LLO) and transfer to a nascent protein
A fourth mannose is added to the N-glycan precursor by ALG11. The addition of the fifth mannose, also by ALG11, is the last step occurring on the cytosolic side of the ER membrane (Cipollo JF et al, 2001). Both these reactions are alpha1,2 mannose additions.
Reaction - small molecule participants:
GDP [cytosol]
(GlcNAc)2 (Man)5 (PP-Dol)1 [integral component of cytoplasmic side of endoplasmic reticulum membrane]
GDP-Man [cytosol]
(GlcNAc)2 (Man)3 (PP-Dol)1 [integral component of cytoplasmic side of endoplasmic reticulum membrane]
