Cytosolic, non-phosphorylated PGYB dimers (b form) can reversibly bind AMP. This reaction is inferred from the AMP-binding properties of human PGYL and closely homologous PGYM proteins from other species (Newgard et al. 1989; Rath et al. 2000).
