Phospholipase ABHD3 selectively cleaves medium-chain and oxidatively-truncated phospholipids, having much higher phospholipase activity toward C14-containing phosphatidylcholines such as lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC(14:0)) and producing 1-acylglycerophosphocholine (1AGPC) (Long et al. 2011). ABHD3 is ubiquitously expressed with highest expression in brain and small intestine (Lord et al. 2013).
