Lipase members H and I (LIPH, I) specifically hydrolyse phosphatidic acid (PA) to the potent bioactive lipid mediator 2-acyl lysophosphatidic acid (2-acyl LPA) (Hiramatsu et al. 2003, Sonoda et al. 2002). LIPH is expressed in most tissues at low levels whereas LIPI is mainly expressed in the testis.
