Protein tyrosine phosphatases PTPN1 (PTP1B) and PTPN2 (TCPTP) can dephosphorylate MET at tyrosine residues Y1234 and Y1235 in the activation loop of the MET kinase domain, resulting in the inhibition of MET catalytic activity (Sangwan et al. 2008).
