Reaction: KCNN2 transports K+ from the cytosol to the extracellular region
- in pathway: Acetylcholine inhibits contraction of outer hair cells
Small potassium current channels (SK2 channels, KCNN2 tetramers) in outer hair cells (OHCs) open in response to cytosolic calcium and transport potassium ions from the cytosol to the extracellular region, resulting in hyperpolarization and inhibition of contraction of the OHC (inferred from the mouse homolog).
Reaction - small molecule participants:
K+ [extracellular region]
