Reaction: KCNMA1:KCNMB1:LRRC52 transports K+ from the cytosol to the extracellular region

- in pathway: Sensory processing of sound by inner hair cells of the cochlea
BK potassium channels (KCNMA1:KCNMB1) are complexed with LRRC52 in inner hair cells (IHCs) (inferred from mouse homologs), which renders the channels sensitive to voltage but insensitive to calcium ions (inferred from mouse homologs). In response to depolarization of the cell caused by opening of the mechanoelectrical transduction (MET) channel, KCNMA1:KCNMB1:LRRC52 channels located in the collar region of the IHC open and transport potassium ions out of the cell, thereby participating in the repolarization of the IHC (inferred from mouse homologs).
