Reaction: JAK2-activated MAPKs phosphorylate YBX1
- in pathway: Interferon gamma signaling
Interferon-gamma (IFNG) signaling was shown to induce nuclear translocation of YBX1 and its binding to the promoter of the collagen I gene COL1A2 (Higashi et al. 2003). IFNG signaling also induces YBX1-mediated repression of COL1A1 gene transcription, which is dependent on JAK1 activity (Dooley et al. 2006). Based on studies in mice, phosphorylation of YBX1 on serine residues S32 and S36 (S30 and S34 in mouse Ybx1) by MAPK1 and/or MAPK3 (ERK2 and ERK1, respectively) is needed for the nuclear translocation of YBX1 and depends on JAK2, which may promote the interaction between YBX1 and ERKs (Jayavelu et al. 2020).
