Reaction: Addition of a GlcNAc on the alpha 1,4 branch by MGAT2
The addition of a GlcNAc on the alpha-1,6 mannose on the alpha-1,4 branch is required for the synthesis of complex N-glycans (Tan et al. 1995). Defects in this gene are associated with Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation type IIa (Tan et al. 1996, Wang et al. 2002).
Reaction - small molecule participants:
UDP [Golgi lumen]
(GlcNAc)4 (Man)3 (Asn)1 [Golgi lumen]
UDP-GlcNAc [Golgi lumen]
(GlcNAc)3 (Man)3 (Asn)1 [Golgi lumen]
