Reaction: Cipro HCl dissolves

At low pH less than 5.0, as is typical for the upper GI tract, ciprofloxacin HCl dissolves, with the Cipro(1+) ion the preferred species at that pH. The upper GI tract also appears to be the main absorption site (Harder et al, 1990; reviewed by Olivera et al, 2010).
