Reaction: SLCO1A2 transports Cipro(1+) into the cytosol

- in pathway: Ciprofloxacin ADME
Transport protein SLCO1A2 (organic anion transporting polypeptide 1A2, OATP1A2, OATP-A) is localized at the apical membrane of human small intestinal epithelial cells (Su et al, 2004). Inhibition studies in a Caco-2 cell line subclone suggest that Cipro(1+) is at least partly imported by SLCO1A2 from the GI lumen (Maeda et al, 2007; reviewed in Tamai, 2011).
Reaction - small molecule participants:
Cipro [cytosol]
H+ [cytosol]
