Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) is secreted by proximal tubular cells, which is inhibited by probenecid, an inhibitor of both ATP-binding cassette (ABC) drug efflux transporters and organic anion transporters (OAT) (Jaehde et al, 1995). It is unknown which transport protein is responsible for renal Cipro secretion (reviewed by Alvarez et al, 2008). Cipro inhibits drug transport by SLC47A1 but is not transported itself (Tanihara et al, 2007). Tubular drug transport is extensively reviewed in Ivanyuk et al, 2017.
