Reaction: p-PKR dimer phosphorylates MKK6

- in pathway: PKR-mediated signaling
Phosphorylation of dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 6 (MAP2K6, MKK6), an essential component of the MAP kinase signal transduction pathway, by Protein kinase R (PKR, EIF2AK2) is required for p38 activation. Activated PKR modifies MKK6 at residues S207 and T211 (Goh et al, 2000; Silva et al, 2004). The current knowledge of involvement of PKR in neurodegenerative diseases was reviewed by Hugon & Paquet, 2021.
