Activated protein kinase R (PKR, EIF2AK2) phosphorylates tumor antigen p53 (TP53) at S392, but it is unclear if subsequent p53 activation is due to this modification or to the SUMOylation of p53 by a PRKRA/PKR/UBE2I complex (Yeung et al, 1998; Cuddihy et al, 1999a; Cuddihy et al, 1999b; Rahman et al, 2009; Yoon et al, 2009; Bennett et al, 2012; Song et al, 2015).
