Reaction: DCAKD phosphorylates DP-CoA
- in pathway: Coenzyme A biosynthesis
Daugherty et al. (2002) identified a candidate monofunctional dephospho-CoA kinase, DCAKD (dephospho-CoA kinase domain-containing protein) on the basis of sequence homology. They suggest that DCAKD may increase the efficiency of dephospho-CoA to CoA conversion in vivo, based on the observation that although both phosphopantetheine adenylyltransferase and dephospho-CoA kinase activities are associated with the mitochondrial matrix, only dephospho-CoA kinase activity is present in the intermembrane space and in the outer membrane fraction.
