Reaction: H2Se is methylated to MeSeH by H2Se methyltransferase

- in pathway: Metabolism of ingested SeMet, Sec, MeSec into H2Se
A yet to be identified enzyme with hydrogen selenide methyltransferase (HSeMT) activity is involved in the methylation of hydrogen selenide (H2Se) into methylselenol aka methaneselenol (MeSeH) in tandem with S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) transforming into S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy). This reaction is inferred from the event in rat (Ohta and Suzuki 2008, Hsieh and Ganther 1977).
Reaction - small molecule participants:
AdoHcy [cytosol]
MeSeH [cytosol]
