Reaction: PXLP-K259-GOT1 transaminates alpha-ketoglutarate and aspartate

- in pathway: Gluconeogenesis
Cytosolic GOT1 (glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase 1, also known as aspartate aminotransferase 1) catalyzes the reversible reaction of aspartate (L-Asp) and 2-oxoglutarate (2OG, alpha-ketoglutarate) to form oxaloacetate (OA) and glutamate (L-Glu) (Doyle et al. 1990). Unpublished crystallographic data (PBD 3IIO) suggest the enzyme is a homodimer).

L-Glu [cytosol]
OA [cytosol]
2OG [cytosol]
L-Asp [cytosol]
L-Glu [cytosol]
OA [cytosol]
